2nd Quarter 2015

Galeria Rancho Santana
By Suzanne Snider

Lively music, appetizers and spirits open Ford Fine Artís newest gallery in Nicaragua, March 30th. Five of the contemporary artists that are represented by the gallery greet guests along with gallery owner, Mark Ford and director Suzanne Snider. Veronica Fonseca is introduced as the sales associate who will open the gallery every Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm.

Local home owners, hotel guests and clients from Managua arrive in the afternoon to enjoy the festivities. Artists Alejandro Arostegui, Armando Mejia, Maria Renee, Javier Valle Perez and Ilsa Ortiz proudly show their work. Joselito plays his guitar and is accompanied by the violin. Later in the evening, Armando Mejia joins the duo and plays the saw.

The gallery itself is located next to the concierge offices and overlooks the inner garden and patio at the newly opened Inn at Rancho Santana. The 17 room luxury hotel just opened on the Pacific Ocean just north of San Juan del Sur. The galleryís exposed beams are washed in gray. A unique hanging system is employed so as not to create holes in the walls and two Y-shaped fixtures house medium size paintings and collages. A large table reveals drawers and shelves for works on paper and small unframed works.

Besides the contemporary Nicaraguan and Costa Rican artistsí work, Galeria Rancho Santana features the works of Modern masters like Francisco Toledo, Diego Rivera, Armando Morales, Benjamin Canas and Carlos Merida. A special addition of hand colored etchings reflects the views when driving from Managua to Tola/Rivas. Soon fine art ceramics will be displayed and offered for sale.
